Shabbat Man – Comic Book Concept and Final Writing of Comic Book #1

Main Characters:

Shabbat Man, aka Joshua Polmar, an adult convert to Judaism, designs weapons-systems, programs and technology for Everblast Corporation, River City, Florida.

Lady Golden, aka Christy Hurt, also an adult convert to Judaism, is a reporter, political-activist and secret operative, who exposes injustices, hypocrisy and double-standards of world leaders, institutions, evil industrialists and global crime syndicates, as likened by Jerome Goyim.

Shekel is Joshua Polmar’s dog, which he rescued from a back alley, where he was being beaten by his cruel owner. Joshua took the beating for Shekel, and the dog forever becomes his best friend.

Hephzibah, Hebrew meaning, “she is my delight,” is Lady Golden’s horse, which Christy Hurt chance discovered injured and frightened, not far from the midst of battles between warring factions in Syria, and at the very borders along the Golan Heights. Christy calls the mare Heptzi for short and Lady Golden always calls her by her full name. Joshua Polmar even created a Hoshenic saddle and an Ephodic saddle pad for Heptzi, giving her the ability, among other things, to fly.

Bar Mitzvah Boy, aka Avi Toubman, a precocious young Jew who, together with his twin sister Necha, aka Bat Mitzvah Girl, wants to learn everything about his religion. He is a sidekick to Shabbat Man.

Bat Mitzvah Girl, aka Necha Toubman, also a precocious young Jew, who, together with her twin brother, Avi, wants to learn everything about her religion. She is a sidekick to Shabbat Man, and a protégé of Lady Golden.

Rabbi Nochum Toubman, father of Necha and Avi Toubman, is a Hassidic Rabbi and world renowned “ultimate” scientist (a guy who knows everything!!!).

Jerome Goyim is the epitome of evil in the world and he is a slave to his wicked animal soul. He is a Jew-hater, international thief and weapons smuggler, amid a syndicate of deceit, anti-Semitism, corruption, racist RAP music, drugs, slaves, and sin all over the world. He is the arch-enemy of Shabbat Man and Lady Golden. Christy Hurt writes and exposes truths about him in numerous international journals. He has tried to kill her many times, and to kidnap Joshua Polmar. His business, JeroGo Enterprises, is a front for his evil empire. Jerome Goyim is dark. His soul is dark. Everyone around him is dark. Everything about him is so very dark and dank, that one can be certain to feel it. He came into existence as the Ninth Plague in the land of Egypt, and became a man through the summoning of an Egyptian priest, who, at the behest of Pharaoh, is bent on revenge against the Jewish people.

Yossi “Joe” Klein is the 20-something custodian at Everblast Corporation where Joshua Polmar works. His father is Jewish, but his mother is not, and he struggles with his religious identity. He is also interested in Joshua Polmar’s conversion, and talks to him often of both, the decision and experience to officially convert. Joe also works for Shabbat Man, but does not realize they are one and the same person. He is an exceptionally efficient and resourceful young man.

Renee Silverman is the owner of the “Judaica Now” world-wide chain of stores that feature goods that were once only able to be found in Israel. Rabbi Toubman and his children Avi and Necha frequent her store in Jerusalem, while Christy Hurt and Joshua Polmar frequent her store in River City. Renee is mysterious. She procured the gem stones Joshua Polmar used in his breastplate experiments. She personally handles all special orders for Joshua Polmar no matter where she is at the time.

Themes:

Each Shabbat Man adventure is designed to teach the reader about one or more of the 613 commandments and about Judaism, in general. The adventures delve into the finer points of Judaism making non-Jews more aware of Jewish traditions. Shabbat Man fights for justice on behalf of all people.

Shabbat Man brings the lessons of the Torah and other Jewish teachings and writings to life in this modern age.

Shabbat Man makes use of Hoshenic and Ephodic technology, which is developed by Joshua Polmar. His breastplate, like one G-d designed for Aaron, glows in differing colors depending upon any one kind of imminent threat. Red for nuclear, Green for poison gas, Silver for projectiles, Gold for physical blows, Pink for nearby dangerous women, Blue for cyber-attacks, etc. The breastplate serves as a force field, channeling G-d’s holy power into a weapons system.

Shabbat Man carries two side arms that appear like Judge Revolvers, but which shoot energy beams. He also carries an Israeli made pistol under his ephod with “holy” point bullets. He carries the Urim and Thummim in a bag on the back of his ephod. They help in discerning right from wrong in situations where his interpretation of the Torah is not so clear.

Joshua Polmar transforms into Shabbat Man through immersion into a Mikveh, which is interfaced with Hoshenic and Ephodic technology. He also wears a gold kippa, that when thrown like a flying disk, disables its intended target and returns like a boomerang.

Shabbat Man wrestles with his desire to be a Beinoni, deciding to master his evil (animal) soul. He is wise in the ways of Hakira, Tanya and Kabbalah. A positive transformational aftereffect from Joshua Polmar to Shabbat Man, becomes then, ability to photo-read large volumes of texts in Hebrew.

Shabbat Man whispers prayers to G-d at the end of every adventure remembering thanks and reciting blessings in Hebrew, echoing the Proverbs and Psalms. Readers will then, always have to go beyond the comic book for translation.

Shabbat Man also has his Shabbat Mobile, Shabbat Cycle, Shabbat Boat, etc. However, for transportation during Shabbat, he is assisted by cherubs which are sent from G-d for transporting him where needs may be so inclined.

There is also a love tension between Joshua Polmar and Christy Hurt. This same love tension exists between Shabbat Man and Lady Golden, though she knows his true identity, but tells no one. Theirs is an unrequited love.

Lady Golden is a hero to people, especially girls everywhere. She is the epitome of pure and powerful womanhood. She is independent, smart, physically fit and truthful, and does not suffer fools or bad guys gladly. She, like Shabbat Man, transforms from Christy Hurt, to Lady Golden, through the Mikveh’s miracle.

Lady Golden rides Heptzi, with a hoshenic English-style saddle and an ephodic saddle pad. Attached neatly to the saddle is an array of weaponry designed for her by Joshua Polmar, and her weapons of choice are twin AR15 rifles that fire Hoshenic energy beams. She also, as Lady Golden or Christy Hurt, throws a four-inch stiletto high-heel shoe, and with deadly accuracy, returns like a boomerang after dispatching intended evil. A forehead heel print is her trademark.

Bar Mitzvah Boy and Bat Mitzvah Girl are the sidekicks to these superheroes, and they learn valuable lessons about Judaism, life, Torah and the 613 Mitzvot during each Shabbat Man adventure.

Jerome Goyim is the arch-enemy of everyone who is good. He battles with Shabbat Man and Lady Golden in each adventure. Light, more precisely enlightenment, is what he fears the most. And it is light that is used by Shabbat Man and Lady Golden during each adventure, which defeats him. He is darkness personified and can never be completely eliminated.

Yossi “Joe” Klein is a helper to Joshua Polmar and to Shabbat Man. He never realizes that they are the same individual. He wrestles with his Jewishness and is torn between life in the secular world and the life that he knows he should be living as a Jew. Joe, like Bar Mitzvah Boy and Bat Mitzvah Girl, learns valuable lessons about Judaism and of life in each adventure.

Renee Silverman is determined to beat the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (“BDS”) movement, which Renee calls the Buttheads, Dumbbells and Schlimazels’ movement, by growing her chain of Judaica Now stores.
